Prince Harry is said to be "considering" US citizenship, which could mean renouncing his royal titles.

The Duke of Sussex has reportedly backdated his new official status as a US resident to the date he and wife Meghan Markle were booted out of Frogmore Cottage.

A royal expert has now suggested the "deeply wounded" 39-year-old is making a point to his family.

It comes as new documents filed with Companies House this week lists the United States as Prince Harry's "new country" of residence.

The duke moved to California with wife Meghan, 42, in 2020 after deciding to quit their lives as working royals.

The Companies House update, Travalyst, an eco firm that lists the prince as a person of significant control, says he has been a US resident since June 29.

That is said to be the day King Charles told Harry to handover the keys to Frogmore. Prince Andrew was said to have been offered the residence instead of the Sussexes.

Royal author Phil Dampier now claims it is a sign Harry has "cut ties" with the UK.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "As always with Harry a lot can be read into his actions. Being ousted from Frogmore Cottage wounded him deeply.

"Charles and William knew it had to be done to emphasise Harry and Meghan were outside The Firm but he probably still thought he could keep a base here. Now he’s shown he accepts his life is in the US."

Earlier this year Harry said he had "considered" US citizenship.

Dampier however says the prince would not be missed should he opt against a UK return.

Travalyst was founded by Prince Harry in 2019. It describes itself as a "not-for-profit global coalition" of travel and technology firms.

It says it wants to promote "sustainability information" for both travel companies and travellers.

Previously the firm listed Harry's residence as the UK.

A row has currently broken out over Harry's US visa application as a conservative think tank called for details about alleged drug use to be made public.

In his memoir Spare, the Duke recalled using a number of drugs, including cocaine and magic mushrooms, something that would usually prevent a person entering the US.

Donald Trump has suggested he may deport Harry should he win the election.
