A pregnant woman renovating her first home with her husband has shared her joy after deciding to rip up an old carpet and making a "jackpot" discovery.

Home renovation projects can prove lengthy and demanding, potentially leading to unexpected expenses, structural issues and damage, surprise repair jobs and further complications. However, it's not all bad – such projects can ultimately result in people getting their dream living spaces.

This is precisely what occurred for one woman and her husband, who are currently in the throes of a home renovation. She "hit the jackpot" after deciding to tear up the dated blue carpeting in a large room in their new house.

Wedding signage and stationery designer Sarah Henry and her husband Kyle Ryan have been chronicling their refurbishment experience online, while Sarah is pregnant with their first baby.

The pair have provided consistent updates on social media, with one recent TikTok video accumulating more than 1.3 million views. In the footage, an expansive room in their property is shown, its floors concealed beneath dense, blue carpet.

Overlaying the clip, Sarah included text stating: "When you're pregnant but really need to see if there's hardwood under the carpet".

Sarah can then be seen pulling up the carpet in one corner of the space. Upon glimpsing what lies beneath, she can be heard saying: "Yep. We got hardwood".

The footage ends with the blue carpet entirely removed, revealing highly desirable hardwood flooring. Sarah, Ryan and their relatives then sweep and vacuum the surface, clearing away the debris left by the carpet.

In the caption beneath the footage, Sarah said: "When you're stubborn and need to rip the carpet up for yourself [crying laughing emoji]. The hardwood angels have blessed us!!!!!! It's literally perfect".

Other TikTok viewers were eager to share their thoughts, with the video attracting hundreds of responses.

One viewer said: "WHO seriously WHO put that blue carpet over those hardwoods [sobbing emoji] and why I'll never understand lol".

Someone else said: "You hit the jackpot". Highlighting their good luck, a third said: "Go buy a lotto ticket!"

Another shared: "My husband keeps saying we are gonna pull up our carpet because he thinks there is hard wood underneath. This gives me hope it may not turn into the s**t show I think it will lol".

One TikTok commenter asked: "Why on earth would someone cover that?" Another said: "it totally changes the room".

Someone else commented: "I am also pregnant and I just peaked at what we have under ours yesterday, also hardwood in great shape! Very exciting stuff!"

Another said: "And it looks like it's in great shape!! You must be thrilled". Sarah responded: "Suchhhh good shape!!! We're so happy".

However, not everyone is a fan of hardwood flooring. One TikTok user shared: "I wish so badly my house had carpet instead of hardwood... I have tripped and fallen a few times from it being slippery and I hate it".
