Saturday is general voting day in British Columbia's municipal elections.

Voters will cast ballots for local elected representatives from among about 3,500 candidates in the province's 162 municipalities and 27 regional districts.

Polling places will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., local time.

To be eligible to cast a ballot, voters must be at least 18 years old, be a Canadian citizen who has resided in B.C. for at least six months and be a resident of the municipality they are voting in.

Many voters will have received a voter information card with details on where they can cast their ballot.

You can also find out where to vote on your municipality or regional district's website.

If you are not already registered to vote, you can do so at your polling place, but will require two pieces of identification.

CBC News will bring you up-to-the-minute coverage after polls close, with a live election special starting at 8 p.m. PT.

Hosts Lien Yeung and Stephen Quinn will be joined by CBC municipal affairs reporter Justin McElroy for local reaction and breakdown, alongside regional analysis from hosts Jason D’Souza in Victoria and Chris Walker in Kelowna.
