A very ordinary-looking home in a London suburb, located more than half a mile from the nearest Tube station, is on the market for an insane £3.5m.

The four-bed, semi-detached property in Canonbury, which is listed for sale on Rightmove has raised a few eyebrows on social media, with many noticing that a six-bed country mansion in Durham is on the property sale website for about half of its cost at £1.75m.

Buyers will have to walk 15 minutes to get to Highbury and Islington Station which is the home’s closest transport link, but it is just a three-minute walk to the bustling nightlife destination of Upper Street.

The road has become renowned for its brilliant restaurants and bars as well as trendy independent shops. The area’s recent surge in interest could have caused the house’s high price, with similar properties in the same street selling for just £312,000 in 1996.

Prospective buyers will be pleased to note that the home has recently undergone a renovation and spans 3,650sqft, a decent size for the capital.

The house also has four bathrooms, a kitchen, a study, a bathroom, a dining room, a reception area, a lounge and a study as well as a front and back garden.

A Rightmove description of the property, which is being marketed by David Astburys, reads: “This family home has undergone a beautiful remodel, done to the highest specifications throughout and is situated on a wide, tree-lined street in Canonbury. Spanning four floors, the property offers fantastic proportions and a well-thought-out layout.
