Asda has issued an urgent product recall as one item has been found to pose a fire threat to homes. The supermarket, which has more than 1,000 stores across the country, issued the product recall on December 12, and customers who have purchased the item have been asked to bring it to their closest Asda store, where they will be given a full refund.
The recall applies to George Home Square Seat Pads sold by Asda. It was sold between 2020 and 2025, so the product may be found in many UK homes. Customers will not need a receipt to get their full refund, as is usually the case in such product recalls. "We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused," Asda said in its official recall statement.

Asda has found that in some cases, this product does not comply with the fire & furnishing regulations. The product filling may not be FR (fire retardant) compliant, which led the supermarket to recall the product.
The product has been recalled from end users. The seat pads are square in shape and were sold in packs of two. The Office for Product Safety and Standards said that if the seat pad comes into contact with a naked flame, the internal filling will catch fire and continue to flame.
Something is fire-retardant when it contains material that stops or slows the spread of fire. It makes products safer, but not completely fireproof. The recall applies to all colours and designs.
