A long-range forecast from the Met Office covering August 11, said northwestern parts will see some spells of rain and stronger winds.

It also read: "Further into August, lower pressure may start to track further south south or east.

"This means there is a greater chance of frontal systems or thundery interludes to affect southern and eastern areas in comparison to recent weeks, though rainfall amounts could be quite variable with some areas still seeing relatively little.

"For the most part, temperatures look to remain above average, especially in the south, and perhaps turning very warm or hot."

But the Met Office has also said heavy rain could also hit the north of the UK today, and a yellow weather warning is currently in place in several Scottish areas, where showers could give 15-25mm of rain in 1-2 hours, and perhaps 40mm in a few places, over 3-6 hours.
