Weather maps forecast strong wintry conditions to hit the UK very soon. According to WXCharts forecasts, snowfall stretching from Yorkshire to Scotland is predicted for the nation as we progress into the cold season. The map shows areas of purple and blue, indicating snow and rain, respectively, in the Midlands, northern England, and Scotland, with the northern parts being most impacted by the conditions.

The snowfall predicted for December 21 by WXCharts comes as the UK has currently been issued several weather warnings, including one amber one, for rain. The alerts are in place from today (Monday, December 15) to Wednesday, December 17. However, just days after the warnings are lifted, it appears, according to WXCharts, the conditions will make a comeback along with some snow.

Along with snowfall and rain, conditions are expected to drop to freezing temperatures and become even colder, particularly across Scotland, where temperatures are expected to reach as low as -2. WXCharts also predicts 0C temperature for Newcastle before it increases ever so slightly to 1C in the evening.

The majority of the South of England will escape wet and freezing weather. However, temperatures will still be low between 2C and 3C, and showery weather will hover around Plymouth and Southampton as indicated by the small blue spots on the WXChart map.

However, ahead of the snow set to come, the UK has been warned of potential flooding and power cuts as a result of rain set to hit various parts of the nation.

The Met Office said: "Heavy rain is expected across parts of south and southwest Wales during Monday. 50-80 mm of rain is likely to fall quite widely with some places seeing close to 100 mm. Given the recent wet weather and saturated ground, the likelihood of impacts is higher."

Warnings have also been issued across northern England, with Brits being urged to "consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit" if their property is at risk of flooding.

The Met Office also advised Brits to check weather reports regularly as weather warnings can change quickly. The last alert is currently in effect until 11:59 pm on Wednesday, December 17.
