UK weather: Flood warnings issued as almost every inch of Britain to be covered in rain

Flood alerts have been issued with almost every inch of Britain set to be covered in rain.

WXCharts has forecast rain to smash into most of the UK today, alongside 41 Met Office flood warnings.

Rain will hit 580 miles from Inverness to Southampton, covering Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, Sheffield, Norwich, Cardiff, London, Plymouth and Southampton.

The Met Office issued over 40 flood alerts across the UK, mainly centered in the south of England near Witney, Didcot, Newbury, Andover, Winchester, and Chichester.

There are also warnings in Canterbury, Cambridge, Luton, High Wycombe, Windsor, Isleworth, and south London as well as Tayside (Scotland).

Temperatures will be their lowest in Wales (Cardiff, Conwy) and the southwest of England (Plymouth, Southampton) at 7C. The southeast (London, Canterbury) and the midlands (Birmingham, Norwich) will be between 8C and 10C.

The north of England (Manchester, Newcastle), Northern Ireland (Derry, Belfast), and Scotland (Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Wick) will see temperatures of between 9C and 10C.

The Met Office has said there will be heavy showers across the UK today, with some being slow-moving and developing into thunderstorms. This afternoon, rain will continue to be persistent.

Showers and rain will gradually ease away tonight with partly cloudy skies. Patchy low cloud, mist and fog will develop in places. Turning chilly under clear spells

Tuesday:

A cloudy start, but sunny spells will develop for most through the day. However, staying largely cloudy across the north. A few showers forming in the south in the afternoon.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Largely fine and dry with variable amounts of cloud and some sunshine. Rain will move into parts of Northern Ireland and northern Scotland on Wednesday. Rather warm in the sunshine.
