A 350-mile rain bomb is forecast to smash into the UK next week.

New weather maps are showing Britain being hit by a 35-mile rain bomb.

WXCharts has forecast the rain bomb to smash into the UK next weekend (March 31), bringing with it low temperatures.

Rain will mainly be in the midlands covering Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Norwich and Peterborough.

It will be heaviest over Manchester, Worcester and Hull, with up to 3mm an hour of rain falling.

There will also be showers over all of Northern Ireland, the Hebrides, north Scotland (Wick) and southwest Scotland (Dumfries, Glasgow).

Temperatures will drop as low as 0C in central Scotland (Inverness, Aberdeen, Fort William). North (Wick) and south Scotland (Edinburgh, Dumfries, Glasgow) will be 2C.

The north of England (Newcastle, Carlisle) will sit between 1C and 3C. Northern Ireland and Wales will be between 2C and 4C.

Central England (Manchester, Birmingham, Norwich) will be 4C and the south of England (Plymouth, Southampton, Canterbury) will be as low as 6C.

This Evening and Tonight:

Cloudier in the west with outbreaks of rain gradually pushing northeastwards keeping temperatures above freezing. Drier elsewhere with clear spells and light winds, leading to a patchy frost in rural spots, mainly towards the east.

Monday:

Dry and bright start in the north and east. Cloudier and breezier in the west with spells of rain pushing northeastwards, turning heavy at times and wintry in Scotland.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Low pressure is likely to dominate through this period, bringing heavy showers and longer spells of rain throughout. Temperatures around average for the time of year.
