Singaporean woman missing in Spain found dead with multiple stab wounds: Reports

SINGAPORE: A Singaporean woman who went missing while on holiday in Spain has been found dead with multiple stab wounds, Spanish media reported on Wednesday (Apr 17).

A Singaporean man has been arrested in connection with her death.

Ms Audrey Fang, 39, arrived in the country for the solo trip on Apr 4 and had been due to return to Singapore on Apr 12.

She had been scheduled to stay at a luxury hotel in the town of Xabia on Spain's eastern coast until Apr 10, but was last heard from on Apr 9.

She reportedly went missing after leaving her room at about 8.45pm that day. Her belongings were left in her room and she did not board her flight back to Singapore from Barcelona.

Ms Fang's body was reportedly found with multiple stab wounds near a parking lot in the municipality of Abanilla on Apr 10, however, local authorities only identified her on Wednesday.

According to online newspaper El Espanol, her body was discovered by the chief inspector of the local police division while he was on his way to breakfast at a restaurant near the RM-422 highway in Abanilla.

Abanilla is located about 150km away from Xabia in a neighbouring province.

A Singaporean man was arrested by the Spanish Civil Guard on Tuesday in connection with Ms Fang's death. He is expected to appear in court later this week, El Espanol said, adding that authorities had not revealed the nature of his relationship with Ms Fang.
