Exiled Russian rebels committed to the overthrow of Vladimir Putin have launched a series of raids on Russian cities in a bid to destabilise the country as the nation prepares to re-elect the 71-year-old as its President.

Russia Governor Gladkov says one person as been killed and three injured as air defences shot down 10 aerial targets approaching city of Belgorod.

A statement issued by Denis Nikitin, leader of the Russian Volunteer Corps warned: "We are once again addressing the residents of Kursk and Belgorod oblasts!

"Your leadership has taken no measures for your protection or evacuation, while attacks on peaceful towns and villages in Ukraine continue unabated.

"We are forced to open fire in response upon military targets in border regions! Evacuate immediately."

Ukrainian insurgents 'fighting with Russian National Guard'

Posting on X, anti-Putin blogger Aslan wrote: "At these moments, Ukrainian saboteurs are fighting with the Russian National Guard near the village of Tyotkino in the Kursk region.

"The danger of drone attacks has been declared in the region. It is reported that a shooting battle is also taking place in Grayvoron (on video), Belgorod region."

Russian blogger reports exchanges between troops and 'saboteurs'

A Russian blogger claimed 12 Ukrainian "saboteurs" were killed after incursions across the border.

Writing on Telegram, SHOT said: "12 Ukrainian saboteurs and two Bradley vehicles were destroyed near the border with the Belgorod region. The DRG is trying to break into the territory of the Russian Federation.

"The DRG approached from the Ukrainian village of Popovka - to the village of Spodaryushino. There is a battle going on there now. In total there are about 30 people in the group. Russian soldiers are now practicing them. Aviation has been raised.

"Grayvoron and Kozinka are also under fire."
