Meghan Markle's solo appearance without Prince Harry on social media in the New Year was a "clearly significant" move, according to a body language expert.

The Duchess of Sussex returned on Instagram on New Year's Day after a hiatus following her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018 and made two new posts - one of which included the trailer for her new cookery show on Netflix, and another which showed her at the beach, wearing white and drawing 2025 in the sand.

While Harry is understood to have been behind the lens for the short video at the beach, body language Darren Stanton claimed that it showed her intent to maintain her independence.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Slots, he said: "She’s reminding people she is an independent person and confident within herself.

"It is clearly significant that she hasn’t included Harry in that segment as well. She’s signalling freedom and individuality, solitude in a positive sense."
