Rishi Sunak confirms King Charles is not dead as he blasts Vladimir Putin propaganda

Rishi Sunak has been forced to confirm King Charles is still alive in the wake of false Russian claims the monarch had died, blasting Vladimir Putin's propaganda.

The PM's move came after Russian media reported King Charles had passed away, citing unnamed sources and a faked statement claimed to have been issued by Buckingham Palace.

Posted all over social media, the fake news was swiftly rebutted by the British embassy in Ukraine, which issued a statement confirming His Majesty was very much alive and well.

ITV News Political Correspondent Carl Dinnen wrote on social media site X that when asked if the claim was true the Prime Minister’s official spokesman "initially referred journalists to Buckingham Palace".

The reporter added: "Before swiftly clarifying that the Government’s understanding is that the King is still alive."
