A countrywide recall has been issued for Flintstones vitamins, Claritin, and Aleve after returned items were restocked and sent to wholesale retailers in error.
The kids’ vitamins and allergy pills were “inadvertently reintroduced into saleable inventory and distributed to the wholesale level,” Health Canada said in a series of Oct. 15 advisories.
The recalled Flintstones Complete Multivitamins and Minerals tablets can be identified by looking for the lot number NAAEXKW on the packaging.
The affected Aleve and Claritin batches can be identified by their lot numbers and specific dosage strengths: Aleve formulated at 200 milligrams with lot number NAAEWF2 and Claritin formulated at 10 milligrams with lot number NAAF0TW.
Pharmaceutical giant Bayer Inc. manufactures all three products.
Health Canada has categorized the recall as Type III, the lowest-risk category of the three-tier classification system. It signifies there is a low risk that consumption of the product will lead to adverse health issues.
Health Canada is advising consumers to confirm whether their product is among those impacted. The federal agency suggests patients speak with their health-care provider before stopping use and encourages reporting any adverse reactions to Health Canada.
