Queen Camilla wore a stunning £2million brooch on Wednesday that once had a very different use.

On May 8, Buckingham Palace served as the picturesque backdrop for the inaugural garden party of the season - the first one of 2024.

The King, who is still undergoing cancer treatment, was joined by the Queen, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh in hosting the party for approximately 8,000 guests.

Dressed in a top hat and tails, the 75-year-old monarch laughed and chatted with excitable attendees.

The Queen stunned in a gorgeous white Fiona Clare Aldridge dress and Philip Treacy hat, paired with Chanel two-tone mid-heel pumps.

As well as her stunning look, many couldn't help but notice her diamond brooch - which is said to have previously had a very different use.

According to Diamond Expert, Maxwell Stone, the Queen's brooch was previously "incorporated into her crown for King Charles’ Coronation".

They added: "The Cullinan V is a beautiful heart-shaped diamond that weighs 18.8 carats. It was set in platinum by Garrard in 1911 and Queen Mary wore it on her crown for the 1911 coronation.

"Most of the time, the Cullian V diamond was featured in a brooch setting, which was passed down to Queen Elizabeth II, who wore it frequently over the decades."

"Queen Camilla’s choice to wear the diamond in a brooch setting to the garden party was an incredibly sentimental one.

"Not only does it have a sweet connection to the late monarch, but it was also one of the diamonds that she had incorporated into her crown for King Charles’s Coronation in May 2023 – during which, it sat in the front cross pattee of her crown.

"The Cullinan V is a truly remarkable piece, laced with history. Thus, I’d estimate it to be worth a staggering £2million ($2.5million)."

Today, May 9, the Queen wore a gorgeous blue summer dress for a reception at Buckingham Palace in central London.

Ahead of today's reception, the 76-year-old took to the Quadrangle of Buckingham Palace, where she posed for photos with guests and mini ponies.

Camilla previously stunned in the blue dress on a  back in 2021.
