Prince Harry fled to US for one main reason but that no longer exists, says royal author

Prince Harry talks about the travel industry

Prince Harry enjoys living in the US and has no plans of leaving, but there’s a flaw in his plan, a royal biographer has claimed.

Daily Express US spoke exclusively to Andrew Lownie, author of Traitor King: The Scandalous Exile of the Duke & Duchess of Windsor, who said: "The royals have always liked America.

"They’ve felt more free there. There’s been less scrutiny of them there, there’s much more support for them in the States, people love the British royals, and are prepared to overlook some of their faults."

When Harry and Meghan moved to the US in 2020, they were hugely popular, but things have changed since then, and "Harry’s story is declining in interest," says Mr Lownie.

It’s not just Harry, it’s Meghan, with Mr Lownie saying, "I think on the American side, people can see through her."

Harry recently listed the US as his permanent place of residence in official paperwork.

Mr Lownie doesn’t find this surprising, commenting: "He has no role in the Royal Family now. It’s just confirming something we all knew.

"Of course he’s going to be happier in the States. He’s kind of burned his bridges in Britain, as has she, so he’s got no real choice except to be in the States."

Harry is scheduled to return to the UK in May for the Invictus Games 10-Year Anniversary to be held at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 8.

At this time, it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not Meghan and their children will be joining the duke.

King Charles will also reportedly invite Harry and Meghan to his Balmoral residence for the summer holidays.
