Prince Harry arrived back in the UK on Tuesday, having flown solo ahead of his attendance at the Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service.

The Duke of Sussex travelled to London from Los Angeles without his wife Meghan Markle or their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

During his visit to the UK Harry is due to attend various commitments related to the Invictus Games including a thanksgiving service at St Paul's Cathedral on Wednesday, May 8.

No senior members of the Firm are expected to attend the event and Harry will not be meeting with his father King Charles during his trip.

The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly “wary” of returning to the UK, with her last visit being in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

Daily Mail's Richard Eden said in Palace Condfidential: “She does not want to return to Britain in a hurry. There are many people here who won't be sad about that. Meghan will be wary of getting booed at St Paul's.”

Following his visit to London Harry will be visiting Nigeria with Meghan. Nigeria's chief of defence staff invited the couple to participate in talks about the Invictus Games.

It is reported that they will take part in several events including a banquet with military officials and meet with servicemen and their families.

Speaking about Meghan’s decision not to return to the UK, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “Meghan has absolutely no desire to set foot in the UK again. It must be sad for Harry who has made it clear that he loves his family here, and wants his children to know and understand their heritage.

“Meghan has been at his side for so much of the Invictus story and it must hold a special place in their hearts because it was at the games that they made their first public appearance together. If she can travel to the Netherlands for the games, why can’t she attend such an important milestone as the 10th anniversary service at St Paul's?

“It’s not because of leaving the children – because she’s going to Nigeria. And it can’t be because of security – because she’s going to Nigeria. So we are left with the one conclusion. She doesn’t want to come to the UK. It’s a dilemma for Harry, and it’s not going to go away.”
