Piers Morgan delivered his verdict on why he believes King Charles did not meet with his son Prince Harry.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, arrived back in the UK ( May 7) to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. He was not accompanied by his wife Meghan Markle, 42, or their children, Archie and Lilibet. It is also understood that none of Harry’s immediate family will attend the ceremony today.

Harry has not visited the country since February when he met with the King for a quick visit following the monarch's cancer diagnosis.

Piers, 59, has since claimed that if Charles wanted to meet up with his son "he’d have made the time" rather than "hosting Buckingham Palace garden party tomorrow with thousands of complete strangers".

Writing in his latest column for The Sun, the YouTube presenter suggested he didn't "blame" Charles.

 Realising a Global Community

He wrote: "Ever since Harry and his wife Meghan ditched Britain and royal duty for life in California - Charles has maintained a dignified silence, refusing to take the bait."

Piers claimed the Sussexes spent much of their "supposed freedom trashing their family" on TV, in books and interviews.

"But now, knowing the eyes of the world are on him as he edges slowly back into public life after being diagnosed with cancer, he’s finally made his feelings crystal clear," he continued.

In a four-word retort, Piers claimed: "Charles is so disgusted," before adding: "he won’t even give him the time of day".

Harry's spokesperson confirmed that it was "unfortunately not possible" for the pair to meet "due to His Majesty's full programme", as he returns to public duties after undergoing treatment for cancer.

"In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty's full programme," they said.

"The Duke of course is understanding of his father's diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon."

Why did Harry and Meghan make a Netflix series about their life?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have found themselves at the centre of public attention since they took a step back from senior royal duties in 2020.

In a trailer for the Netflix series about them, Prince Harry told viewers that “no one sees what’s happening behind closed doors” in a reference to how their lives may differ from what the public think about the couple. Meghan adds: “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”.

Reports suggested the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could receive up to $100 million for making the show, although this has been disputed and the true figure is unknown.
