Paris has been put on lockdown after a man is reportedly threatening to blow himself up outside the Iranian embassy.

Streets surrounding the 16th arrondissment have been cordoned off as a number of armed officers storm the scene.

The man is believed to be wearing a belt strapped with explosives.

Police have also repertedly ordered the city's Metro Line 6 to be interrupted as a safety measure.

It comes after Israel launched a revenge attack on Iran by firing drones in the early hours of this morning.

This was in response to Iran launching over 300 missiles towards Israel on Saturday.

However, 99 percent of the missiles were intercepted by Israel and its allies.

It was not yet clear whether the incident in Paris is related to the on-going crisis in the Middle East.
