Meghan Markle made two major mistakes when she officially joined the Royal Family, claims one royal expert.

The former Suits actress joined the Royal Family after she married Prince Harry, 39, in May 2018.

Less than two years after their fairytale wedding in Windsor, the pair made the decision to step down as senior working royals and relocated to the US with their son, now-four-year-old Prince Archie, at the start of 2020. The pair then later welcomed a daughter named Princess Lilibet in June 2021.

Speaking to the Sun's Royal Exclusive Show, royal expert Charles Rae accused Meghan "throwing a tantrum" after "not understanding the pecking order" of the Firm.

As reported by OK!, Mr Rae said: "You've got the monarch, you've got the Prince of Wales and then you've got everyone else under that she wanted to be the star and that I think it was that simple that she thought she just picked up her toys and decided to go off to America."

Mr Rae has also accused Meghan of "craving the limelight" and "wanting to be star" when she joined the Firm in 2018.

He claimed that the 42-year-old did not realise why she and Harry were not at the top of the "royal hierarchy".

This comes after speculation that Meghan could be set to return to the UK next month.

Harry is set to attend a special ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in London on May 8 - and Meghan could join him.

Reports have previously suggested that Harry is keen to improve relations with members of his family, but it is Meghan who will ultimately decide.

The couple could be set to bring their children with him, although royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said that it is "unlikely" that Harry with bring Archie and Lilibet with him without Meghan.

Speaking to the Sun, he said: "If Meghan didn't want to come she could never be forced to. It would be extremely unlikely Harry would come over with the kids without Meghan."

Speaking on whether Meghan will join Harry, one insider has said that the Duchess of Sussex could avoid the UK due to safety fears.

Meghan has visited the UK very few times since stepping down as a senior member in 2020, with her last visit taking place in 2022.

Harry and Meghan are said to have had their two children with them in the UK when celebrating the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.

The couple now reside in California with Archie and Lilibet.
