Meghan Markle teases new Netflix show in trailer

Meghan Markle has hit a major new milestone with her Netflix show despite its low rankings and scathing reviews. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Archewell Productions announced on Monday, alongside Netflix, that they will be continuing their partnership with a new "multi-year first look" deal as their previous one is coming to an end.

In the announcement, which details the couple's previous projects for the streaming giant and those on the horizon, there was a key piece of information about the Duchess's Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. The Sussexes claimed that With Love, Meghan is currently Netflix’s most-watched culinary show since its release.

They failed to mention the show ranked 383rd in the streaming giant's most-watched shows globally, with 5.3million views, but did note it broke into Netflix's Global Top 10 Shows list with 2.6million views during its first week of release.

It also snatched a 3.2 rating out of 10 on IMDb.com. For comparison, the most-watched show globally on Netflix was Adolescence with 145million views, while Squid Games' seasons 2 and 3 gathered 117million views and 72million views respectively, completing the top 3.

When it was released in March, With Love, Meghan was panned by critics. The Guardian described it as a "gormless lifestyle filler" and "so pointless it might be the Sussexes' last TV show," while The Telegraph branded it "insane" and an "exercise in narcissism."

Despite the flop, With Love, Meghan will come back with a second season this August.

Netflix said of the new season: "Meghan returns with a fun and heartwarming new season, welcoming celebrity chefs, talented artists, and beloved friends for hands-on adventures filled with laughter and discovery."

It promised "playful cooking challenges" and "DIY projects", adding: "Meghan and her guests explore bold flavours, experiment with new techniques, and discover simple ways to add beauty to everyday life."

The show, Netflix said, is "all about embracing playfulness over perfection and finding joy in creating together".

Harry and Meghan have released a total of five shows on Netflix so far - Harry & Meghan, Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, Polo, and the latest one With Love, Meghan.

Polo, released last December, ranked 3,436th with a measly 500,000 in the latest rankings.
