The M67 has been closed amid a police incident, with drivers warned the major UK motorway will br closed in both directions for the "majority of the day". Officers have rushed to the Tameside motorway this morning (August 4).

The motorway is closed both ways between junctions 3 at Hyde and 4 at Hattersley. National Highways has warned "due to the nature of the incident, the road is likely to remain closed throughout the day". A Greater Manchester Police Tameside spokesperson said: "Please be aware that officers are dealing with an ongoing incident on the M67. While investigations continue, the M67 will be closed in both directions for majority of the day. Please find an alternate route and we are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause."
