Drivers on the M4 are facing long delays after authorities shut the major motorway in both directions following a crash this morning.

Traffic cameras have captured the full extent of the lingering chaos after the road was originally shuttered at 12.32am this morning.

Long queues of standstill traffic have formed between junction 49 Pont Abraham and junction 48 Hendy, Llanelli, in Carmarthenshire.

Traffic Wales, which monitors the main routes in Wales, reported 45 minute delays at 8am, with queues developing on surrounding routes in the area and on the A48.
