Fire crews have raced to the scene on the M25.

Motorists are facing severe delays on the M25 in Surrey during rush hour after a vehicle fire sparked chaos.

An update from National Highways reads: "There are long delays on the M25 anti-clockwise in Surrey due to a vehicle fire within J8 (Reigate)."

All lanes are closed. Normal traffic conditions are expected in around one hour. It is unknown whether there have been any injuries as a result of the incident.

The M25 has closed in both directions close to junction eight following a vehicle fire near Reigate.

Emergency services are currently on the scene diverting traffic via the exit and entry slip roads.

There are delays of 45 mins above normal travel time anti-clockwise and 25 min delays clockwise
