The first victim of the Lisbon funicular derailment has been named as the death toll rises to 17. A father of a three-year-old boy from Germany died in the collision and his mother is in critical condition. The boy was among 21 people injured and pulled from the derbis by a police officer, CNN Portugal has reported. 

Multiple foreigners were injured in the crash as the streetcar was travelling in a tourist hotspot, according to Margarida Castro Martins, head of Lisbon's Civil Protection Agency.
