King Charles's sweet gesture to his loyal aides and courtiers ahead of the first anniversary of his Coronation has been laid bare.

Charles, 75, is set to mark the first anniversary of his and Queen Camilla's crowning on Monday, May 6.

According to The Sun, the monarch is delivering a special "thank-you" to his loyal staff in the form of a pay boost.

Those in positions earning less than £35,000 will receive a six percent increase. Staff on salaries over £35,000 will prepare to receive a 5.5 percent increase.

Speaking of the sweet gesture, an insider has said: "It’s easy to forget how hard people work behind the scenes at the Palace but the King’s not done so.

"He and Camilla have had a lot to be worried about with his cancer diagnosis but clearly he’s thinking about others too. This is a real morale boost for staff."

The recent hike follows a cost of living, heating and mortgage grant imposed by King Charles in 2022. Staff received up to £600.

One year on from the historic occasion, the King and Queen are set to take on the majority of the late Queen's patronages.

This news comes after a major review of more than 1,000 patronages and charity presidencies previously held by the late monarch.

The King announced that he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer earlier this year.

After spending some time away from public-facing duties, the King made a return last week with a visit to the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre.

Appearing alongside the Queen, the King used his visit to speak of his shock at being diagnosed with the disease.

Prior to the engagement, Buckingham Palace released a statement, which read: "His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis.

"To help mark this milestone, the King and Queen will make a joint visit to a cancer treatment centre next Tuesday, where they will meet medical specialists and patients."

Following the death of the late Queen in September 2022, Charles became monarch - with his eldest son, Prince William next in line to the royal throne.

On October 2022, the King's Coronation date and place was confirmed by the Royal Family's official X account. The tweet, alongside a picture of the couple, read: "The Coronation of His Majesty The King will take place on Saturday 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey. The Ceremony will see His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside The Queen Consort."
