The King and Queen's royal visit to Canada will be "short but impactful" as the couple prepares to pack in seven engagements in a whirlwind trip across the globe. On Monday, Charles and Camilla will travel over 3,300 miles to undertake a state visit to the Commonwealth nation over just two days.
The focal point of the whistlestop trip will be the State Opening of Parliament on Tuesday, which will mark a significant moment between the King and the Canadian people. Speaking ahead of the trip, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: "The King and Queen are very much looking forward to the programme, mindful that it is a short visit but hopefully an impactful one."
It marks the first opportunity that the couple have been able to visit Canada since their Coronation, as they were due to visit the country last Spring but the trip was cancelled due to the monarch's cancer diagnosis.

A full state visit could not be arranged for the same time this year due to the difficulties posed by the Canadian election.
Royal sources have insisted that despite the brevity of the visit, the schedule will reflect His Majesty's longstanding admiration and affection for the country.
On Monday, the royal couple will fly to Ottawa, where they will be greeted by a display of pomp and pageantry as they step out on Canadian soil for the first time since the King ascended the throne.
The King will hold an audience with newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney shortly after arriving in country, before attending a short ceremony to swear in The Queen as a member of the Canadian Privy Council.

The swearing-in allows the Queen to give formal advice to the King in his role as the King of Canada, and once sworn in, she maintains membership for life.
She follows in the footsteps of Prince Philip, who was appointed to the Privy Council for Canada in October 1957, where he took his Oath of Allegiance before the Queen.
Charles also participated in the swearing-in ceremony of what was then the Queen's Privy Council in May 2014 - during his tour with Camilla - but ceased to be so upon his accession in September 2022.

The King and Queen will then plant a tree in the grounds of Rideau Hall before attending a short reception for Lieutenant Governors from each of the 10 Canadian provinces and Territorial Commissioners from the three Territories.
Tuesday will be the focal point, with the King becoming only the second monarch to attend a State Opening of Parliament, after his mother in October 1957.
It is understood that the event is less formal than the one held in the UK, though, as is custom in Westminster, Charles's speech to Parliament will focus on the legislative themes of the new Government.
Before they embark on the seven-hour flight home, the King and Queen will lay a wreath and flowers at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial.
