How old is King Charles?

King Charles is 75 years old. He was born on November 14 1948, just three years after the end of World War Two.

The current monarch was delivered at 9:14pm by caesarean section at Buckingham Palace, instead of a hospital.

He was later christened Charles Philip Arthur George, the first child of then-Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh.

Charles would eventually become the older brother to three siblings: Anne (born 1950), Andrew (born 1960) and Edward (born 1964).

He was born during the reign of his grandfather King George VI, and became heir apparent when his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, acceded to the throne in 1952.

However, Charles would go on to become the longest-serving heir apparent in British history. At the age of 73, he became the oldest person to accede to the British throne.

When did King Charles marry Queen Camilla?

The photograph of Charles and Camilla released this evening was taken on April 10 this year, the day after their 19th wedding anniversary.

Charles married his long-term partner on April 9 2005 at Windsor Guildhall in an unprecedented wedding for the Royal Family.

He became the only member of the Royal Family to have a civil, rather than a church, wedding in England.

More unusually, Charles' parents - the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh - did not attend the marriage ceremony. It is understood that this is due to the Queen's position as the head of the Church of England since both Camilla and Charles had previously divorced.

However, Charles' mother and father did attend the service of blessing and held a reception for the newlyweds at Windsor Castle.

The wedding took place decades after the couple first met, which was in 1970 at a polo match.

After the 2005 ceremony, Camilla became known as "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall" - a title she would keep until last year's coronation ceremony, which saw her become Queen Camilla.

Tony Blair, Stephen Fry, Joan Rivers, and Richard E Grant were among the high-profile figures who attended the ceremony.
