Everyone from Kim Kardashian to Blake Lively has made a mockery of Princess Kate online over this month's "Photoshop fail" - but in light of , GMB's Richard Madeley has urged them to apologise. "By all means have free speech, but if you get it horribly wrong, say sorry!" he exclaimed.

He added: "If you say something that has demonstrably been found to be completely false, you have to say sorry." Kim's page has already been flooded with comments requesting that she apologise for mocking the Princess over disappearing from the public eye, writing on Instagram that she was "on my way to find her".

So far there has been no response from her on the contentious issue. However, actress Blake Lively has retracted her comments, saying she is "mortified" at her mistake, while Owen Jones has said he is "ashamed" for poking fun at her.

A GMB guest blasted that while it might be that no-one was listening to trolls, "when you have a platform, you have a responsibility, you have an obligation". "We forget that these people are human - we make money out of these people's lives!" she exclaimed.

While Richard swiped that he "couldn't believe the insensitivity", she added that there was "a sense of entitlement" among the British people for expecting to know the details of Kate's diagnosis. Blasting the "objectification" of the royals, she added firmly: "They have no obligation to tell us!"

The GMB team discussed how some celebrities had taken care to "share their regret for contributing to the Kate frenzy".

Following the cancer announcement, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively took to her Instagram account to lament: “I’m sure no one cares today but I feel I have to acknowledge this.

"I made a silly post around the 'photoshop fails' frenzy and, oh, man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry.”
