A furious airline passenger has said her flight was ruined after she paid extra for a window seat only to find they were sat next to a blank panel.

Taking to Reddit to complain about the incident, the traveller explained how while she wasn’t fussed about a lack of leg room, she was disappointed with the lack of a view.

The woman, who did not name herself in the post, said she was “mildly frustrated” by the situation on the Delta flight.

In the comments below the post she explained how despite boarding the plane in good spirits, she had become increasingly dismayed as she approached her seat.

She explained: “I was excited to board the plane knowing my seat was A12.

“My smile slowly faded as I approached my seat counting the passing rows. My disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined.”

The ordeal was further complicated by the fact there were no alternative seats and the fact the passenger was travelling with family.

As a result, she added: “It was disappointing but I didn't make a fuss. It was just mildly infuriating.”

While the passenger was chilled about the situation, fellow Reddit users empathised and sympathised with her situation whilst others provided an explanation for the windowless seat

One person said: “Some aircraft have AC ducts running from under the floor to over the ceiling, they sacrifice one such window to run said ductwork. Some like in your case will install a seat row next to an emergency exit, the door frame doesn’t allow for an additional window.”

In a statement about the incident, a spokesperson for Delta told MailOnline: “If the customer wishes to contact us directly with more detail on her travel, we’ll look into what occurred and will make it right. Delta, by the way, offers many seat assignments, including window seat assignments, free of charge.”
