Poundland has issued an update on its slew of closures, revealing that they will come to an end soon. It comes after more than 100 stores shut in 2025.

The mass closure of Poundland stores will soon come to an end. More than 100 stores have closed across the country as the discount chain goes through a massive restructure. However, bosses recently revealed that the closures will be stopping, with only a few more earmarked for January and February 26. Poundland made major changes last year as it was bought by an investment firm for just £1. 

A new pricing structure is just one of the changes that the retailer has made in a bid to improve its business performance. However, the brand made the decision to close stores across the country, and many communities lost their local Poundland in 2025. Stores shut throughout the year, and the firm's store count went from 800 to 651 last year, with thousands of jobs cut along the way.

Poundland has not released an official list of stores that closed in 2025. Closures were staggered throughout the year. A number of stores also closed in 2024.

Meanwhile, Poundland announced plans to shut several more stores at the beginning of 2026, with some having already closed for the last time. Poundland's 2026 closures are:

Poundland isn't the only business to shut a significant number of high street stores. River Island has also announced a slew of closures, while New Look shuttered many stores across the UK last year.
