Footballer Dan Elkayam is the latest victim of Sunday's horror attacks to be named.

A Sydney football club has penned a heartbreaking tribute to their teammate as they confirmed one of their players was killed in the horror shootings at Bondi Beach.

16 people have so far been confirmed to have died after the mass shooting in the state of New South Wales, officials have confirmed.

One of those people was Rockdale Ilinden FC's Premier League footballer Dan Elkayam.

His club, based in Sydney's southern suburbs, issued a statement in the hours following the loss of their friend and teammate.

"It is with extreme shock and sadness to discover our Premier League 1 player - Dan Elkayam - was a victim of the horrendous, tragic, and senseless events at Bondi Beach," the statement reads.

"Dan was an integral member of our PL1 Squad in 2025 - who was an extremely talented and popular figure amongst teammates. Our deepest and sincerest condolences to Dan's family, friends, and all that knew him.

"He will be missed. May he rest in peace - Memory be Eternal."

Police have declared the attack a "terrorist incident" and confirmed that a 50-year-old gunman is also dead. Officers also discovered "several" explosive devices at the beach, believed to be linked to the dead gunman. A second attacker, identified by a senior law enforcement official as Naveed Akram, has been injured and is in police custody. Police said the attackers were father and son.

The identities of those killed in the horror attack on Bondi Beach in Sydney are now starting to circulate in the hours after the brutal assault occurred.

Police also said that 42 injured people, including four children, were taken to hospitals across Sydney. One of the first victims has been named as London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, a father-of-five.
