slammed his political opponent during a private chat at Mar-a-Lago as the former President's anger boiled over.

The comments were made to the former president's inner circle and came after Trump was arraigned in his ongoing criminal court case in Manhattan.

Trump, 77, declared that Joe Biden is "the worst president in the history of our country," adding that he "cannot even put two sentences together."

He fumed: "When I was in the White House, at least we were safe."

The comments came as the President was dealing with the daunting task of fighting a criminal case in New York while trying to run a reelection campaign.

Trump later delivered a campaign-style speech to cheering supporters at the event, which was attended by more than 500 of his most loyal supporters.

During the speech, Trump called the New York indictment the latest in an "onslaught of fraudulent investigations".

"This fake case was brought only to interfere with the upcoming 2024 election and it should be dropped immediately," Trump said.

He claimed "our country is going to hell" to which the audience applauded.

He also maintained that the Russian invasion of Ukraine would have never occurred if he was in office and dubbed Jack Smith, the special prosecutor investigating him, a "lunatic".

Trump is facing 34 counts of falsifying business records relating to alleged hush money payments earmarked for adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.

He denies all wrongdoing and describes the case as a "politically motivated witchhunt".

His case is now entering the third week, with the former president suggesting he is willing to go to jail as a "sacrifice" after he was threatened by a judge in his New York hush money trial.

On Monday Judge Juan M. Merchan, who is overseeing the trial, ruled that Trump will be held in contempt of court for violating the gag order for the 10th time.

Trump was also warned that future violations could lead to him being put behind bars.

After leaving the courtroom, Trump complained about the gag order that bars him from attacking jury members, prospective witnesses, and court staff involved in the trial.

"I have to watch every word I tell you people... because this judge has given me a gag order and said you’ll go to jail if you violate it," Trump told reporters.

He continued: "And frankly, you know what? Our Constitution is much more important than jail. It’s not even close. I’ll do that sacrifice any day."

In a written court order, Merchan ruled that Trump violated his order for the 10th time on April 22 when he decried the jury pool as a biased political institution.

Last week, Trump was ordered to pay $1,000 for each of the nine times he was found in contempt of court following a series of statements and re-posts he made on Truth Social and his campaign website.
