New weather maps show Britain being hit by a second Iberian blast with 23C heat.

WXCharts and Netweather have forecast hot weather to come to the UK at the end of next week (May 17 and 18).

Temperatures could get high in places with 23C predicted for the southeast of England, covering Peterborough, Norwich, London and Canterbury.

It will be between 20C and 22C in Cambridge, Ipswich, Brighton, Reading, Birmingham, Sheffield, Liverpool and Fort William.

Areas which will hit temperatures from 16C to 19C include Southampton, Conwy, Manchester, Hull, Newcastle, Carlisle, Derry, Belfast, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness.

Coastal areas around the country (Plymouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Wick) will see highs of between 13C and 15C.

The Met Office has said of the period: “The weather is expected to be changeable across the country, with further spells of rain and showers expected. Rainfall amounts could be above average in most areas.

“It is also possible that rain will be heavy at times, and any showers could turn thundery.

"Temperatures are also expected to fall closer to average for May.”

Tonight:

Cloudy and breezy with occasional rain across parts of Scotland, and initially Northern Ireland. Elsewhere, dry with clear spells but some mist, fog and low cloud will return.

Thursday:

The far north remaining rather cloudy with some patchy rain, otherwise a mostly fine and dry day across the UK with spells of sunshine. Feeling warm for many.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Staying mostly dry and fine with sunny spells, and feeling increasingly very warm. Western areas will turn cloudier on Sunday, with some showers developing later.
