Terrifying footage has shown the moment an armed brawl broke out in broad daylight in central London.

A machete-wielding man could be seen swinging a blade as a crowd gathered around a white car in Edgware Road before the driver appeared to try and plough into the group.

Screams could be heard as the thugs could be seen trying to pull a man out of the front seat of the car yesterday afternoon.

One of the group jabs through the window with a weapon leading onlookers to try and stop the violence, but they are shoved away.

A man is then seen trying to move the group away from the car when the driver gets out of his vehicle and walks to the boot, where he retrieves the massive machete and starts attacking the men gathered around.

As the group move away from the car the brawl continues as the armed man swings at the pedestrians.

But rather than running away, one man decided to try and punch the man with the machete.

Screaming and shouting can be heard from horrified onlookers.

Social media users branded the incident “total lawlessness” adding “the streets are not safe”.

One Twitter user replied: “Not a day goes by now where there hasn't been a stabbing or assault in my town in London.

“You only have to drive through parts of it to know that it's not a place you'd want to be walking around, especially at night.”

While another added: “Just another day in London. Need to relocate somewhere safer for my children’s sake.”

Metropolitan Police has been contacted for comment.
