Stockton armed police LIVE: Primary school in 'full lockdown' as officers descend

An estate has been swarmed by raid vans and armed officers with the primary school issuing a statement to parents.

Armed police have swarmed an estate in Stockton with a primary school on 'full lockdown'. Officers are carrying out a series of raids this morning with Tilery Primary school caught up in the chaos.

The school issued an alert to parents, stating: "Due to an ongoing police incident on the Portrack estate, if your child is coming to school, can you please take them to the main hall."

One witness told Teesside Live: "Armed police everywhere St Anne's Terrace. School on full lock down taking all the kids to the main hall no parents allowed in to the school grounds".

Both Cleveland Police and Durham Police are in attendance.

Police issue statement as 'search operation' is launched

Following officers storming the primary school this morning, Durham Constabulary and Cleveland Police have issued a statement.

It read: "Police are currently carrying out a series of warrants in the Stockton area as part of an ongoing operation.

"Armed and unarmed officers from Durham Constabulary and Cleveland Police are involved in the activity as well as specialist search officers and dog section.

"A cordon remains in place at these addresses.

"We will issue further information on this activity as soon as possible."

What we know so far

Tilery Primary School is currently in full lockdown after it was swarmed with armed police.

No parents are currently being allowed to enter the school in Stockton, Teeside, with all of its children being taken to its main hall.

In an alert to parents, they said the police presence was caused by an incident on the nearby Portrack estate.
