Sarah Ferguson took to social media to mark what would have been the late Queen Elizabeth's 98th birthday.

Sarah Ferguson has paid a sweet tribute to her former mother-in-law, the late Queen Elizabeth to mark what would have been her 98th birthday today.

The late monarch was born on April 21 1926 at 17 Bruton Street in Mayfair, London.

Fergie, as she is known to friends and family, took to social media to mark the special day, praising Elizabeth for her leadership and for being a "dear friend".

The Duchess of York shared a picture of a smiling Elizabeth and wrote: "Today we are remembering Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on what would have been her 97th birthday.

"Thank you for all that you have taught us, for being a steadfast leader and dear friend. You are sorely missed."
