Meeting royalty is often a special moment that people cherish and retell over and over again. And yesterday, one little girl was definitely given a moment that she will never forget courtesy of Queen Camilla.

Her Royal Highness was on a visit to Shrewsbury yesterday morning where she received a warm welcome as scores of people gathered in the town square to catch a glimpse of the consort.

The Queen kicked off her trip to the Shropshire town by visiting the Shrewsbury Farmers' Market, meeting members of the local community and market traders.

A post on the Royal Family X account read: “What a wonderfully warm welcome to Shrewsbury! Thank you to everyone who came out to say hello.”

Was lovely seeing Her Majesty today. Made my girl's day when she took their drawing from them and said it looked just like her.

One mum, who was over the moon with how the visit went revealed that her daughter’s drawing of the Queen took centre stage.

Samantha, who tweets from the account @Greeneyes1986, wrote: “Was lovely seeing Her Majesty today. Made my girl's day when she took their drawing from them and said it looked just like her.”

Camilla also met two young girls who made posters for the Princess of Wales, following her shock cancer announcement on Friday evening.

Camilla promised to deliver them to her and said: "I know that Catherine is thrilled by all the kind wishes and support."

The Queen was also scheduled to meet Lord Lieutenant, Anna Tuner, and Jenny and Stuart Jones who organise the monthly market.

After that Queen Camilla was due to attend the Old Market Hall where she signed the visitors' book and met members of the local Bee Keepers' Association.

Later on, the Queen was set to visit the recently restored Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, before meeting local volunteer groups including the Shrewsbury Food Hub, Shrewsbury Interfaith forum, Save our Shropshire and Shropshire Supports Refugees.

It’s been a busy week for the Queen as on Tuesday evening Camilla gathered authors, academics and celebrity supporters for an evening reception at Clarence House to mark new research commissioned by her Queen's Reading Room literary project.

Queen Camilla has stepped up her duties while King Charles is treated for an undisclosed form of cancer.
