Prince William has issued a touching gesture to the family of a legendary SAS hero. The Prince of Wales has today stepped out to attend a memorial service for Major Mike Sadler.

Major Sadler was the last original member of the SAS, also known for his exploits which were dramatised in the BBC series SAS: Rogue Heroes based on the 2016 book of the same name by Ben Macintyre.

He was awarded the polar medal, military medal and military cross for his service. He died at the age of 103 in January.

The private service, at Hereford Cathedral, was attended by close personal friends, family and colleagues attending.
