Prince Harry is said to be disappointed that he will have to visit the UK alone next week.

The Duke of Sussex will be coming to the UK in order to celebrate 10 years of the Invictus Games but his wife Meghan Markle will remain at their Montecito home to look after the pair's children before joining him on a visit to Nigeria.

Her no-show is said to be likely to leave Harry feeling "so lonely" as he continues to deal with his fractured relationship with the Royal Family, a royal expert has claimed.

Mail on Sunday royal editor, Charlotte Griffiths, explained how Harry would have "loved" to have had his immediate family by his side, especially with the event being at St Paul's Cathedral, where his mum and dad were married.

She told GB News the occasion would be "very sombre".

She said: "Meghan is leaving him there alone, and I just think he's going to cast a really lonely portrait of a man without his friends around him, without his family and without senior members of the Royal Family. And no wife there with him as well."

Griffiths claimed Harry will be staying in a hotel for the occasion rather than any royal residency adding it is more likely he will be there a matter of days, rather than a week.

Following the Invictus Games event, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will both be in Nigeria for talks on the games. During their stay, they are expected to take part in cultural activities and meet with service members and their families.

The visit will represent the couple's first trip to the African country that holds a special place in the former actress' heart after she previously revealed her Nigerian ancestry during an episode of her axed podcast Archetypes.

It comes after it was revealed that King Charles may be able to fit a meeting with the prince into his schedule during Harry's UK visit.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Sun: "The King has always kept the door open to Harry, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he would invariably get a warm reception.

"It will take its time. But clearly the situation has changed in recent weeks beyond all expectations. I don't think it would be too difficult, it depends how you define reconcile. I think there's a long way to go before Harry is bringing over Meghan and the children."
