Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will likely "not welcome" a new German documentary that could unveil "fresh secrets" about them.

The couple, who featured in their own docu-series after stepping down from their roles as working royals, are said to be "phobic about their privacy" as the new documentary gets underway.

Ulrike Grunewald will head up the documentary, with the show produced for Germany's ZDF network. According to reports, Ulrike is said to have travelled to California with a team of five people to investigate Montecito and gather insights from the neighbourhood where the couple resides with their two children.

Speaking to the Mirror, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams admitted that he didn't know of the upcoming German documentary, but noted how the Sussexes will likely "not welcome this".

He said: "Having largely controlled Oprah, who was reluctant to interrogate them, having control over their six hour documentary for Netflix, 'Harry and Meghan' and obviously over Harry’s memoir Spare, the Sussexes would almost certainly not welcome this."

He said: "They are phobic about their privacy and are unlikely to welcome scrutiny. To be on the receiving end of a documentary where they have no control over the contents is far from ideal for them, especially as it is being directed by Ulrike Grunewald, a seasoned royal journalist for many years who has a reputation for unravelling concealed facts.

"It might be widely watched on release, as interest in the Sussexes is still phenomenal."

The Sussexes are currently busy with their own projects, which comes as Harry is due to attend an Invictus Games event in London today for its 10th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Meghan recently unveiled her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and the couple are also said to be working on two new Netflix shows - one about polo, and one about cookery and gardening.
