A former royal butler claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may "never" heal the rift with the royal family by making one "very sad decision".

Grant Harrold said that the couple's decision to live permanently in the US shows they are "breaking away" from the Firm, and ruins any chances of reconciliation.

He believes "it's possible that the relationship is over" as the couple make the commitment to live permanently in the US with their childnre, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

He told Slingo: "Harry has decided to break away completely from his home, which is very sad. Whether this is to do with his family or work, he seems to have decided that that is where he is going to spend most of his time.

"I am assuming that sadly this means the relationship with his family is not back to where it was and maybe never will. I’ve always thought it would go back but it's possible that the relationship is over."
