In documents filed on Monday at Companies House for his sustainable tourism charity Travalyst, the duke, using his full name Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex listed the United States as his "new country/state usually resident".

He said on ABC's Good Morning America: "I have considered it, yeah."

When asked what might stop him applying, he said: "I have no idea. It’s a thought that has crossed my mind but it’s not a high priority for me right now."
