A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a banned breed of dog and owning a dog dangerously out of control.

A woman has died after being attacked by an allegedly banned breed of dog. The woman, who was in her 70s, was killed on Kathleen Avenue in Bedworth, Warwickshire with police called to the scene at about 3.50pm on Friday.

A man, 52, and a woman, 49, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a banned breed of dog and owning a hound dangerously out of control.

The arrested woman was injured by the dog and taken to hospital, though she her condition is not life-threatening. The canine was seized by the police and is now in a secure facility.
