Jordan will temporarily close its airspace on Saturday night to all incoming and departing aircrafts, local news outlet Al Mamlaka reported.

The Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission said the purpose of the closure is to safeguard the safety and security of civil aviation in the country as risks of conflict escalate in the region.

The commission decided to close Jordanian airspace after conducting a risk assessment according to internationally recognized standards.

The decision will be reviewed and updated according to developments, the commission said in a statement.

This comes as a retaliatory attack by Iran on Israel is imminent, with officials saying a strike could occur as soon as Saturday.
