The magic of Christmas comes to life in a quirky Santa Land which invites people into a special Narnia-type village for two months of the year. Featuring its own Elf Academy, sleigh rides, and a Santa meet, Piglets Adventure Farm in York has received rave reviews.

Its website claims that the farm turns into an "unforgettable Christmas adventure" and takes paying guests on a tour from the moment they enter. At first visitors will be asked to check in to their "flight" with Elf Airlines where passengers will have their passports stamped.

Following an "Elf and Safety" training video, passengers will board a sleigh that will take them to Santa's village. On the sleigh ride, families will journey through "snowy trees" and a "winter woodland" before being greeted by Santa's Chief Elf inside his village.

At Piglets Adventure Farm, visitors will also be able to make reindeer food for Rudolph and his friends. Visitors will also be able to write their Christmas wishes on a postcard and send it to the North Pole in the farm's Polar Post Office.

The farm's festive take seems to have dramatically improved from last year, when the venue was besieged with negative reviews. But already, this seems to have changed. One user who visited the market this year said: “Went for the Xmas Santa sleigh ride. All the staff were amazing and played their parts fantastically. Very much a credit to the business and themselves."

Another added: “Enjoyed the experience even as a 27-year-old. My 3-year-old had a great time. Loved the gift and I loved all the stampings you can do around the woodland.

"We'd been told it was cold and to bring layers. Which it is December you do expect the cold. But it was very cold. And if you're not prepared you're not going to enjoy it.

"Some blankets for on your knee at times would have been appreciated just to help keep you warm. I've sleigh ride, elf class, etc. Santa's house was lovely and warm. And he was a great man."

Another user said: “Came for the seasonal sleigh ride and Santa visit. What a great place it is. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating and they’ve gone all out for the Christmas experience. Every step of the journey was well planned and thought through and executed so professionally to make everyone feel at ease.

“The staff were so interactive with the kids and seemed like they enjoyed what they do. Afterwards, we were able to use the play areas and visit the farm.

"It was raining so was quite slushy but it didn’t stop the kids from having fun and the farm was great too seeing the piglets and the goats. Overall a great day out and definitely recommend.”

The festive attraction opened in November, and it will run until December 24. Entry tickets start from £14.95 per person but can cost up to £24.95, and slots are still available throughout December.
