Daniel Anjorin's family pay tribute to 'amazing son' after Hainault sword attack

The devastated family of London sword attack victim Daniel Anjorin have released a heartfelt statement, describing him as their "loving and precious" son. The 14-year-old lost his life on his way to school in Hainault, east London, on Tuesday, in an appalling sword incident that also left four others injured.

In a poignant message conveyed via the Met Police, a statement from the family reads: "We as a family are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Daniel. It is difficult for us at this time to process what has happened to him and that he will never come home. Daniel had left the house for school and then he was gone.

"Our children have lost their loving and precious brother and we have lost the most loved and amazing son. We would like to send our best wishes to the other victims of this unthinkable incident."

The Anjorins also extended their gratitude towards the community for its support and requested privacy: "We would also like to thank the local community for all of their support during this most difficult time. We ask that the media please respect our privacy and refrain from contacting us or our family."

Police were called to reports of a car crashing into a house and people being stabbed at about 7am on Tuesday.

The Met Police said a 33-year-old man was injured when a van crashed into a property on Laing Close. He was then attacked and sustained a neck wound. Following this, Daniel was attacked and suffered stab wounds of which he died from in hospital. 

Two police officers sustained serious injuries, with one suffering "horrifically serious" arm wounds and the other a with a serious hand injury.
