An American woman living in the UK, Haley Horton, has taken to TikTok to highlight what she perceives as British quirks and practices she finds peculiar.

Horton, 26, originally from Boston but now living in Wales, shared her observations in a tongue-in-cheek video posted under the handle @haley.horton. With over 837,000 views and nearly 4,000 comments, her video struck a chord with viewers.

In the video, Horton jokingly introduced herself, stating: "I'm ready to fight some people. Here are some things that I think the UK just does wrong.

"If you don't already know me, my name is Haley and I'm an American that's lived in the UK for the past seven years.

"Sometimes I make content about that and usually it's pretty upbeat towards the UK, but today I've decided I'm gonna start some fights.

"I'm gonna tell you about things I actually think you guys don't do very well."

She proceeded to list several things she disagrees with, starting with the custom of not eating cake at children's birthday parties. Instead, Brits take the cake home as a party favor, which Horton finds perplexing.

She asserted: "Don't combine them. I wanna eat cake at the party."

One confused Brit commented: "Who doesn't eat the cake at the birthday party? We take the leftovers home in a goody bag but we eat the cake or we have other cakes", while another said: "Cupcakes to be eaten at party. Slice of birthday cake to be put in the party bag for later, two cakes in one day! We are clearly geniuses!"

Horton's second critique focused on the perceived lack of variety in salads available in the UK compared to the US. She playfully teased her British followers about the stereotype of "obese Americans" but maintained that America offers better salads and more variety.

Users were quick to comment, with one individual pointing out: "Hint: make your own salad with the amazing fresh produce we have on offer rather than ready packed and labelled gunk."

Another wrote: "Yeah, but when it comes to salad, UK coleslaw is way better than American coleslaw!"

Next, Horton addressed the British terminology for "daddy long legs," insisting that Brits refer to crane flies as daddy long legs, whereas in America, daddy long legs are spider-like insects.

This point sparked confusion among viewers, with differing regional interpretations adding to the debate.

One user commented: "I’m a Londoner. Daddy long legs are spiders, crane flies are crane flies".

Another said Scottish individual wrote: "I’m from Scotland and most people I know call them Jenny long legs."

Horton also raised an issue regarding the absence of plug sockets in British bathrooms, a common feature in American households.

Expressing her frustration, she remarked, "And finally, just the lack of plugs in the bathrooms. I understand why, you don't want that getting wet, but still. What if I wanna do my hair in the bathroom one day? I can't."

While some viewers questioned the necessity of plug sockets in bathrooms for safety reasons, others from the US highlighted the bathroom's role as a grooming space.

The 26-year-old TikToker finished off the clip by reminding viewers that her views were "all in good fun".
